This is an unusual Korean folk tale that I came across. I was able to find 2 versions of this story. I have a feeling that there could be many more. I am sure that most of the Korean folk tales can be told in more than one way.
The was once a beautiful young woman. She was kind, smart, but she had one big problem. She couldn't control her big farts. She farted often and loudly. The wind that she produced was able to knock over large objects or even blow tiles off of a roof. Her parents were worried that their beautiful daughter would never find a husband. So, they told her to never fart any more.
The beautiful young woman found and married her new husband. She held in all of her farts. They had many children and lived together happily for many years. Her mother in law and father in law loved her because she was a good wife to their son and a good mother to their grandchildren.
After 10 years the beautiful woman started to get very sick. Her husband and his parents became very worried. They asked her, "What is wrong?" She told them that she had been holding all of her farts in since her marriage and that was making her sick. They all told her that they loved her, so she could fart whenever she had to.
It had been a very long time since she last farted. She told her husband, his parents, and her children to hold on to a pillar as her fart was going to be very powerful. When she had finished, her children had been blown into a field, her husband and his parents had been blown onto a neighbor's roof. Her house had been destroyed. From that day on, she could fart any time she wanted to.
